Higher Education - Palestine

The development of higher education (HE) in Palestine is relatively recent. However its impact is undeniable. Two-year colleges have existed since the 1950s for teachers and technicians training. Universities were created in the 1970s to preserve the Palestinian identity and to provide young people with the opportunity to pursue HE in Palestine. This sector has largely expanded after the Oslo Accords (1993) by the transfer of education from Israel to the Palestinian National Authority.
